XBOX by MSCIA UB

XBOX is an annual event held by MSCIA University of Brawijaya that aims to improve students’ interest to join research exchange program and prepare them for exchange. This year, XBOX was held in September 22th, 2017. The event is formed as a report that is addressed to the dean as well as the students in Faculty of Medicine, University of Brawijaya (FMUB), and tells information about exchange, such as what exchange is, what students do in exchange, and the preparations before joining exchange. The presentations were done by some alumni of MSCIA UB who had an experience of exchange, outgoings, incomings, and the representatives of each LSO/BK in FMUB. The event was open for everyone in the FMUB. Through this event, not only we hope that students can get a better understanding of research exchange and improve their interest to join the programs, but also that the students can have a great preparations so that they can create a big impact once they return from their exchange.

The event began with a speech from the project officer of XBOX, and was continued by a speech of MSCIA UB’s president. Afterwards, 7 outgoings from 7 different exchange countries shared their experience. They talked about what they did during the program, what they discovered about the health facility, the nation’s policy, health services, and many more. Besides that, they also talked about the preparations students need to pay attention before joining an exchange program. The event was continued with ice breaking and a talk show from the incomings. They also shared about their countries, as well as the health services and facility in their original country.

After the presentations and talk show, we carried out a consultation time in a form of small working group, where participants can anything about exchange and its preparations in front of booths that showed the conditions of many countries, each was accompanied by our outgoings. We also had a consultation booth for AISEC, our university’s youth organization that worked in the field of leadership and offered exchange program. In the end of the event, the participants were given a lunch and a drink from the food party. The event was ended with a pray and group photo.
