Thesis Make Up by MSCIA UB

Department of Research Exchange (DORE) of MSCIA aims to increase the skills of UB students in terms of writing a thesis. Accordingly, Thesis Make Up was conducted to give a clear picture revolving thesis manufacture with hope that after the event, the participant will have adequate knowledge to pursue the thesis required to finish their bachelor degree and have a positive impact to the local as well as the community.

The event was started by pre-test to measure the knowledge of participant about how to write a thesis, which then followed by a lecture by dr. Siwipeni, a microbiologist with a lot of research experiences. dr. Siwipeni mostly give a lecture of encouragement on how to create the thesis, but also what is needed, and how to create one. She concludes her lecture by pointing out that developing a research may be a hellish experience but when your research is accepted and praised by famous researchers from U.S. is the moment that you will realize how useful and satisfying in creating a research.

Furthermore, an UB upperclassmen who already finished with his thesis also share his experience as well as tips and tricks to complete the thesis. The tips and tricks he shared were how to correctly find an idea or topic, how to choose the correct tutor, how to develop a title, and how to be motivated as to not viewing thesis as a huge heavy encumbrance.

Thereafter, a third lecture was given by a statistician where he explored a statistic software that helps in computing and analyzing the thesis data. Audience were explained how to use the software, the method to import data into the software, and methods of analyzing data, like one-way Anova.

Not only one-way lectures, Thesis Make Up also held small working group which gives the opportunity for the audience to apply the knowledge they have been taught to.
