SCOOTER is a new project of SCORE CIMSA UR in which people are educated about the importance of using clean water in their daily needs. This project got its inspiration when it was found that masses around Pekanbaru city still mostly utilize dirty water to accommodate their lives due to the scarcity of clean water. This project is planned to be done on 10.00 am, November 11, 2017 within Sidomulyo health facility.
Early in the morning, the organizing committee of SCOOTER meet up near UR to organize the materials needed on the event, such as snacks to be distributed to the participants. Around 9 o’clock, LORE with a few of SCOOTER committee and VLI go to escort the doctor who also the speaker for this event, dr. Indah Prasetya.
As the ticking clock’s hand pointing to 10.35 am, SCOOTER was officially started. The audience attention was firstly intercepted by the welcoming speech of SCOOTER’s project officer, then local coordinator of CIMSA UR, and continued by a representative from Sidomulyo health facility. CIMSA UR also use this chance to give the certificate to Sidomulyo health facility staff to represent the gratitude of have been allowed to use this health facility as SCOOTER’s venue.
Next, lectures are given about clean water, safe to drink water, as well as bottled and water gallon. Pre and post-test are also enacted to measure the lectures effectivity and efficiency. Thereafter, question and answer session are opened, where mostly mothers ambitiously fired up asking questions about the safety of drinking water and gallon water due to exposure to her child. CIMSA UR then give the certificate to dr. Indah as a token of gratitude where she can be SCOOTER’s speaker.
SCOOTER also provide a simple practical exam to evaluate the water appropriateness. The practical exam is done by measuring the water’s hydrogen concentration or more famously known as measuring the water pH. The audiences are given opportunity to test the pH of any liquid they bring. A few minutes later, the result has shown that there are some branded drinks that deemed not safe for consumption, and one of that drink is the water from one of the audience’s home.
A group photo was then taken with everyone including dr. Indah and the representative from Sidomulyo health facility. The audience smile when walking back to their home mark the satisfying end of SCOOTER. Even though there are some problems within the planning and implementing the event, SCOOTER can end uneventfully.
