Pre Exchange Training (PET) by MSCIA UB

On Friday, November 23, 2018 DORE MSCIA UB held the Pre Exchange Training (PET) together with DOPE Pre Departure Training (PDT), hence the activity name of PDET. This activity was held at Locarasa Malang on the Jakarta street. Chief DORE and DOPE act as the main speakers in this event with the prepared material in advance that will be presented for the outgoing candidates.

PDET was supposed to begin at 5 PM, however due to the dreadful heavy rain, the activity starts one hour later. Firstly, the event was opened by Chief DORE and Chief DOPE with an opening speech and prayers. Outgoing were also welcomed to order or consume food while listening to the delivered materials. The first topic was intercultural learning by Chief DORE. This material explains the definition of Intercultural training along with its importance in its awareness and knowledge.

Next was the lectures on bioethics. Bioethics is essential because of its trivial application during exchange in respective country. Moreover, it is highly necessary in carrying out all actions by medical personnel both to animals and/or human respondents. Bioethics also contribute to the research in the way of how to treat patients objectively and appropriately. Examples of bioethics application in research are the implementation of inform consent and how-to of delivering bad news.

The next program was continued by a refreshing reminder for the outgoing on assignments during and after the exchange. These assignments composed of videography, logbooks, introducing CIMSA to the respective country embassy, and the evaluation sheet. The department chiefs also remind the outgoing regarding luggage that can/cannot be taken during the exchange to the destination country.

At the end of PDET, the outgoing was given material by the Chief DOPE related to how to fill the IFMSA web database for outgoing candidates, which includes choosing a country, viewing the exchange conditions, filling out application form, filling in other required documents, and also IFMSA assignments that must be done during the exchange. Before the event closure, Chief DORE and DOPE spread out a posttest to find out how understanding was the outgoing after being given the material.
