On Sunday, 11th September 2022, Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE) Center for Indonesian Medical Students’ Activities (CIMSA) Universitas Sebelas Maret held an offline training event named SGP Level 1 SCAPULA: SCORE Training on SPSS and Journal Systematic. SGP Level 1: SCAPULA event is held for one day from morning to evening offline at Faculty of Medicine UNS and has 2 training sessions with ice breaking in between. This event aims to increase knowledge and understanding of medical students, especially members of CIMSA and SCORE CIMSA FK UNS about journal systematics, research competitions, SPSS, and research questionnaires.
Before the offline training started, participants were given a pre-test to determine their initial understanding of the seminar’s material. After that, we began the first training session, which was delivered by CIMSA FK UNS alumni, Azkia Rachmah, S. Ked. She explained about journal systematics from introduction to closing and tips on winning research competitions. This material was presented very well by her. After that, the participants and speakers asked questions about the material presented, the participants were very enthusiastic during this session. When the training is finished, participants are given a post-test to test their understanding of the training that has been explained.
Between the two sessions there was also an ice breaking which was very exciting, namely family 100 games and the winning participants received prizes. During the ice breaking, almost all of the participants participated and came forward because it was a game of two groups, each consisting of four members. We have to extend the time in this session because the participants are very cheerful and enjoy following it.
Then the second training session was delivered by the lecturer Faculty of Medicine UNS, Dian Nugroho, dr.,M.Med.Ed. He explained training on SPSS (Introduction and basics of SPSS, descriptive statistics, normality test and crosstabs, hypothesis testing (Parametric and non-parametric), hands-on practice using SPSS) and research questionnaires (Introduction and presentation of basic research questionnaires), in this session participants also had the opportunity to practice it directly and ask the speaker if there was any confusion. Before the training started, participants were given a pre-test to determine their initial understanding of the training’s material and after the training participants were given a post-test.
The purpose of holding this event is so that participants, especially SCORE CIMSA FK UNS members can better understand and apply journal systematics, research competitions, SPSS, and research questionnaires. From the results of data processing, participants have increased knowledge about the material that has been presented, it is hoped that SGP Level 1: SCAPULA can be a provision to face the next SCORE activities.
