Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE) Indonesia was established on 2001 as the biggest organization that modulate Indonesian medical students exchange programs whilst in collaboration with IFMSA. Subsequently, managing incomings and outgoings become one of SCORE main focus area. For incoming management, SCORE help foreign students who wish to enact research in Indonesia to fare and adapt well. Incomings are also invited to participate in any cultural & social events as part of acquainting him/herself to Indonesian aspect of life. Conversely, outgoing will be facilitated with essential information for exchange opportunity, available countries, research activities in the destination country, the required paperwork, and other policies. Hence, SCORE CIMSA concoct Pre-Exchange Training (PET) as an activity to provide the opportunity of outgoing training and information sharing.
SCORE CIMSA UNAND held its PET on Monday, 3 December 2018 with the participation of twelve outgoing candidates, speakers, and former outgoing. On the training site at a restaurant with numerous irresistible dishes, Kirana Restaurant, M. Rayhan Braja as current Local Officer on Research Exchange (LORE) deliver a brief but impactful message on introduction to IFMSA and SCORE, foundation of SCORE
research exchange, preparations for exchange, as well as SCORE survival kit. Participants seems to be very enthusiastic in learning the exchange information and ask many interesting questions that even overwhelm the speakers. Nevertheless, the activity continued by a mini-lecture by an ex-outgoing to Portugal who is currently officiate as the National Officer on Research Exchange (NORE), M. Gilang Dwi Putra. Gilang explained all aspects regarding intercultural learning, including UNESCO corroboration. A question-and-answer session was then opened with a lot of eager and earnest participant asking a lot of mind-boggling inquiries. The activity then continued by sharing from former outgoing on their experience,
cultural shock, language barrier, and the research exchange flow. These fiery discussions was done while taking a brief coffee break, thus the discussion can be more alive and open.
Pre-Exchange Training by CIMSA UNAND hereby hoped to deepen the understanding of outgoing candidates on what they are required to do before, on, and after the exchange, as well as becoming a stepping stone to help the outgoing doing the research on their destination countries. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the outgoing can then take part in the development of research in Indonesia when they arrive back safe and sound.
